Son of Haltcliffe Vermount tops Tully Sale at €10,000

While the ICBF sale at Tully took a few lots to get off the ground, it developed into a fine trade. With nearly a complete clearance achieved for Charolais and Limousin bulls on offer. The overall clearance across all breeds was 75%. In the larger number of bulls the Limousin’s achieved an average of €3500, while the Charolais bulls achieved an average of €4020.

The top price of €10,000 was made by Elite Fred Et, a pure breed Limousin bull sired by Haltcliffe Vermount, the property of Edward Tynan, Beechill Farm, Doon, Mountrath, Co. Laois and was purchased by Glen Devlin of Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh.

Tomriland Ferry, Limousin bull the property of Noel Kenny, Ashford, Co. Wicklow was sold for €5,100 to John O'Heney, Co. Tipperary. Other Limousin bulls realised prices of €3,800 (property of Dan O'Mahony, Ballygarvan, Co. Cork to Raymond Lee, Enniskillen) and €3,250 (Sean Garrett, Ballycastle, Co. Mayo to John Nolan, Gort, Co. Galway). A number of Limousin bulls were sold for €3000.

Redgate Folengo, the Charolais Champion bull, sired by Thrunton Voldermort, property of Eugene Egan, Ballyfin, Co. Laois realised a sale price of €7,800 from Brian Casey, Crossmaglen.  John McGovern, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim realised €5,500 for his bull Drimna Finbar 1 purchased by Willie Kelly, Skreen, Co. Sligo.  Michael Grant, Buncrana, Co. Donegal sold his bull Maghermore Fred to Norman Wilson, Ballyclare, Co. Antrim for €4,200.

The Blonde d'Aquitaine bulls realised prices between €2,550 and €3,150 at the sale. There was a good consistent trade on the day.  David Wall of Newcastle, Co. Dublin achieved €4,300 for his Champion Simmental bull Curaheen Bronson, sired by Milton Lord-Tiffany.  Thomas Cox, Auctioneer, Strokestown handled the sale on the day.

Two bulls were purchased prior to sale by Dovea Genetics. The first was the Champion Angus, sired by Luddenmore Fionn and owned by Martin Costigan, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. The second was a Charolais bull, sired by Panama and owned by Patrick McLoughlin, Lifford, Co. Donegal. 

 

Redgate Folengo, sired by Thrunton Voldemort and owned by Eugene Egan, Ballyfin, Co Laois, sold for €7,800.

Blonde d’Aquitaine Bull: Mountbrown Flint, sired by Ballinascraw Armani and owned by Philip Lyons, Westport, Co. Mayo, sold for €3,150.

Simmental Bull: Curaheen Bronson, sired by Milton Lord-Tiffany ET and owned by David Wall, Newcastle, Co. Dublin, sold for €4,300.

Second top priced Limousin bull Tomriland Ferry, sold for €5100 pictured with Noel Kenny Ashford, Co. Wicklow.

Elite Fred Et, Limousin bull sired by Haltcliffe Vermount, the property of Edward Tynan, Beechill Farm, Doon, Mountrath, Co. Laois and purchased by Glen Devlin of Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh.
